How Can severe Lower Back Pain Be Treated?

I have been suffering from lower back pain in the L3, L4, and L5. I am 77 years om old; and surgery was ruled out as not an option (serious condition). About 15 year ago I fell and hit the stairs heavily, bottom in sitting position on top step. I am on pain management, with NSAID, except for three times epidural injections, 8 m0nths apart. Getting worse

Hello,
If you are having pain even after epidural injections and NSAIDS then you can apply some home remedies. it can't give you permanent relief but it can help you to reduce the pain .you can take cold or hot therapy according to your convinency.for the cold therapy-you take some ice cubes crush it and put it in a plastic bag then apply on your painful site.don't apply more than 20 mins apply every 4hrs.
or
Hot fomentation -apply hot water bag on the same site for 20 mins to avoid the skin burn.
then apply any diclofenac gel at the painful site.hot or cold fomentation reduces the inflammation like swelling or pain etc.
You can do some stretching or spinal extension exercises( in the supervision of physio) to relax the muscle or spasm.
you can take massage therapy atleast thrice a week.massage also reduces the spasm and relaxes the muscle.
Use coarset or lumbosacral belt to avoid the exertion on your back.
Avoid forward bending, squatting and weight lifting.
